IIT Dharwad and NITK Surathkal Sign MoU to Strengthen Academic and Research Collaboration
Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad and the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 6 August 2026 during the 67th Foundation Day celebrations of NITK Surathkal, marking a significant step towards strengthening collaboration in academics, research, and innovation.

The MoU was signed by PROF. VenkappayyA R. dEsAi , Director, IIT Dharwad and PROF. Ravi B. , Director, National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal.
Areas of Collaboration
The MoU will facilitate joint research projects, faculty and student exchange, industry-sponsored R&D, consultancy, workshops, conferences, publications and patents.
Guest of Honour
PROF. VenkappayyA R. dEsAi , attended the celebrations as the Guest of Honour. An alumnus of NITK Surathkal (M.Tech, 1986 Batch), he addressed the gathering and encouraged participants to embrace artificial intelligence without fear, emphasizing that institutions should integrate human intuition and traditional knowledge with emerging technologies.

He also reflected on the qualities of inspiring teachers, citing Swami Vivekananda, Adi Shankaracharya, and Gautama Buddha as exemplary educators who inspire self-reflection and steady growth.
