On 12th November 2025 (Wednesday), a team of scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), Bengaluru, visited the Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT Dharwad) to explore potential avenues for research collaboration and academic engagement between ISRO and the institute. The visiting delegation comprised Dr. Ram S. N., Dr. Ramprasad B., and Dr. Kamran Ahmed.
During the meeting, the ISRO team proposed several initiatives to strengthen institutional collaboration with IIT Dharwad. They expressed interest in organizing ISRO Outreach Programmes at IIT Dharwad for school students, engineering students, and young researchers, with the objective of fostering scientific curiosity and promoting awareness of advances in space science and technology.
The delegation also encouraged IIT Dharwad faculty members to submit research and development proposals under ISRO’s RESPOND programme, which supports collaborative research aligned with ISRO’s strategic scientific and technological goals. Furthermore, the team highlighted that ISRO offers internship opportunities for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing them with hands-on exposure to research and development activities in cutting-edge areas of space technology.
Additionally, the scientists emphasized the ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB) Examination, typically announced between February and March each year, as an important opportunity for IIT Dharwad students aspiring to pursue careers at ISRO as scientists and engineers.
IIT Dharwad looks forward to formalizing and expanding this partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ISRO, aimed at fostering long-term collaboration in research, innovation, and educational outreach.
The discussion was attended by Prof. Shiva Prasad S. M., Prof. C. Ravikumar, and Prof. Vijeth J. Kotagi and Prof. K. V. Jayakumar from IIT Dharwad.
