PROF VenkappayyA R. dEsAi, Director, emphasised the continued relevance of the philosophical teachings of the Bhagavad Gita in today’s world marked by conflicts and global challenges. He shared these insights while inaugurating the two-day international conference on “Civil Literature: Texts, Traditions and Cultural Dialogues of Civilizations,” jointly organised at the DRH Hall, JSS College, DHARWAD, by DHARWAD Katte, Adikavi Sri Maharshi Valmiki University (ASMVU), Janata Shikshana Samiti (DHARWAD), and Peter Lang, Switzerland, on 13 March 2026.
During his inaugural address, PROF Desai noted that the great epics of India reflect the country’s culture and traditions. He highlighted that the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita continue to offer meaningful guidance in addressing human dilemmas and provide insights into self-discipline, particularly in learning to control one’s senses and actions.
The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries including Prof. S. M. Shivaprasad, Honorary Professor, IIT dhArwAD; Prof. Shivanand Kelaginamani, Vice-Chancellor, Aadikavi Maharshi Valmiki University, Raichur; Prof. Basavaraj Donur, Professor, Central University of Karnataka, Kalaburagi; and other eminent guests.
