IISc Professor Delivers Key Lecture at ANRF-Sponsored Symposium

We were delighted to host Prof. Nirmalya Bachhar from the Department of Chemical Engineering, IISc Bangalore, at the ANRF-Sponsored National Symposium on “Smart Interfaces: Colloids in Medicine, Energy, and Materials” held on 9th October 2025 at IIT Dharwad.

Prof. Bachhar delivered an insightful talk on “Understanding the Effect of Alkylation on Drug Design, Transport, and Aggregation”, where he explained how small molecular modifications especially site-selective methylation can significantly enhance drug potency. He discussed thermodynamic insights, molecular simulations, transport behavior, and aggregation kinetics, along with experimental validation using Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS). His talk highlighted how such fundamental understanding can accelerate drug discovery and contribute to designing more effective therapeutics.

The symposium was convened by Prof. C. Ravikumar and co-convened by Prof. Ashok Kumar Ummireddi from the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Dharwad.

We extend our sincere thanks to Prof. Bachhar for inspiring our students and research community with his impactful work.
