The Wellness Centre, IIT DHARWAD, Karnataka, successfully organized the National Pulse Polio Programme on 21st December 2025 at 12:00 PM. The programme was conducted with the support of a medical team from Garag Primary Health Centre.
Polio drops were administered to children in the age group of 0–5 years as part of the national immunization initiative. The programme aimed to strengthen efforts towards a polio-free India and ensure the health and well-being of children.
Polio vaccination is essential for children as it protects them from poliovirus infection, which can cause permanent paralysis and other serious complications. The Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) helps build immunity at an early age and prevents the spread of the virus within the community. Timely immunization ensures long-term protection and supports the goal of maintaining a polio-free nation.
